ExDES Maintenance Skill Set
The RIISS00030 Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set Course (ExDES Maintenance Skill Set Course) is designed for individuals conducting maintenance on explosion protected diesel engine systems for vehicles used in underground coal mines. The course is suitable for persons with a metal, mechanical, electrical or automotive trade or mechanical or electrical engineering qualification.

Who Should Attend?
The ExDES Maintenance Skill Set Course provides the essential training required by workers of a Recognised Service Facility to ensure they have the appropriate skills and knowledge to safely carry out maintenance on explosion protected diesel engine systems used in underground coal mines.
Strategic Corporate Training requires students to be employees of a NSW or Queensland Recognised Service Facility for Underground Diesel Engine Systems and Underground Coal Mines to enable practical implementation of skills and knowledge of the course to be observed in the workplace.
The RIISS00030 Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set Course requires the completion of seven units of competency:
- RIIDES301D Inspect, test and maintain diesel engine systems and their ancillary systems
- RIIDES302D Inspect, test and maintain joints on diesel engine systems
- RIIDES303D Inspect, test and maintain cooling systems on diesel engine systems
- RIIDES304D Inspect, test and maintain inlet systems on diesel engine systems
- RIIDES305D Inspect, test and maintain exhaust systems on diesel engine systems
- RIIDES306D Inspect, test and maintain safety shutdown systems on diesel engine systems
- RIIDES307D Test, determine the cause and rectify excessive emission levels on diesel engine system
Students who successfully complete all training and assessment requirements of the above units will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the Skill Set from the RII Training Package.
Strategic Corporate Training's ExDES Maintenance Skill Set Course is a blended delivery course including two days of classroom training followed by practical implementation of skills and knowledge by the student in their workplace.
Students have up to 6 calendar months to complete the course.
Public courses are regularly conducted by Strategic Corporate Training. We can also deliver the course at a client’s venue of choice in NSW or Queensland for group bookings — minimum numbers apply.
Assessment
Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate specific skills.
A range of assessment methods will be utilised to assess competence in each unit within the course including written and oral questioning, practical observations, group activities, and verification of workplace skills and knowledge.
