Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set is for those conducting maintenance on explosion protected diesel engine systems for vehicles used in underground coal mines.  The course is suitable for persons with a metal, mechanical, electrical or automotive trade or mechanical or electrical engineering qualification.

Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set provides a career development opportunity for experienced persons or tradespersons carrying out maintenance on explosion protected diesel engine systems used in underground coal mines.

Strategic Corporate Training requires students to be employees of a NSW or Queensland Recognised Service Facility for Underground Diesel Engine Systems and Underground Coal Mines to enable practical implementation of skills and knowledge of the course to be observed in the workplace. 

Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set requires the completion of seven units of competency: 

  • RIIDES301D Inspect, test and maintain diesel engine systems and their ancillary systems
  • RIIDES302D Inspect, test and maintain joints on diesel engine systems
  • RIIDES303D Inspect, test and maintain cooling systems on diesel engine systems
  • RIIDES304D Inspect, test and maintain inlet systems on diesel engine systems
  • RIIDES305D Inspect, test and maintain exhaust systems on diesel engine systems
  • RIIDES306D Inspect, test and maintain safety shutdown systems on diesel engine systems
  • RIIDES307D Test, determine the cause and rectify excessive emission levels on diesel engine systems

Recognition

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer are available to all students. Please contact our Training Admin Team for more information on the RPL pathway and Credit Transfer processes.

Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set is a blended delivery course including two days classroom theory training followed by practical implementation of skills and knowledge in their workplace.

Students have 6 calendar months to complete the course.

Face to face training is conducted at our facility in Thornton NSW which is easily accessible for individuals from the Hunter Valley, Maitland, Newcastle Region, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Mid-North Coast areas. 

Courses can also be delivered at a client’s venue of choice in NSW or Queensland for group bookings —minimum numbers apply. 

Assessment

Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate specific skills.

A range of assessment methods will be utilised to assess competence in each unit within the course including group activities, written questions etc.
