S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor
The S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor Course provides the essential skills and knowledge for individuals working in the Resource Sector who are required to perform the role and duties of a Mine Supervisor.
The Site Supervisor skill set, known in the Resource Sector as S1 S2 S3 or G1 G8 G9 competencies, is appropriate for those working in operational roles at sites in coal mining, drilling, extractive, and metalliferous mining.
Strategic Corporate Training's S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor course requires students to complete the following nationally recognised units of competency to achieve a Statement of Attainment from the RII30218 Certificate III in Underground Coal Operations qualification:
- RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
- RIIWHS301E Conduct safety and health investigations
- RIICOM301E Communicate information
Some mine sites require any person with a supervisory capacity to also hold the G2 competency - RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process. Strategic Corporate Training provides the G2 Risk Facilitator Course in combination with the S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor Course within our public course training schedule.
Students should have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to read and comprehend instructions for safety in the workplace and be employed in the Resource Sector.
Strategic Corporate Training's S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor course is delivered by our industry expert trainers over two days of intensive training with assessment activities completed on-course.
Students who require more time to develop their understanding of the training content have the opportunity to complete and submit their assessments tasks within six months from commencement.
Assessment of the S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor Course is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill, and the application of that knowledge and skill, to the standard of performance expected in the workplace. Assessment methods conducted within the course will include:
- Demonstration through questioning (either verbal or written)
- Demonstration of practical skill in a workplace or simulated environment
- Direct observation by the trainer/assessor
- Third party report and employer support documentation (if required)
S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor courses are regularly conducted at our Thornton training venue and can also be delivered for organisations either onsite or offsite across Australia (minimum numbers apply).
On successful completion of the S1 S2 S3 Site Supervisor Course with Strategic Corporate Training, students will have gained the knowledge and skills to:
- apply risk management processes in the resources industries including: plan and prepare for risk management; assess and identify unacceptable risk; review risk management documentation; identify and recommend controls; contribute to the implementation of controls.
- conduct safety and health investigations in resources industries including: determine the investigation objectives; gather information; evaluate information; identify courses of action; prepare and present investigation reports.
- communicate information in the resources industries including: plan and prepare to communicate information; communicate information verbally; communicate information in writing; achieve meeting outcomes; make a presentation; participate in negotiations.
Learning pathways from the successful completion of these units of competency include various Certificate III and Certificate IV qualifications from the RII Training Package.
