BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management will help you to take that next step in your career.

Whether it be to upskill your existing role or by providing you with a valuable qualification that could be utilised in a range of new employment opportunities.

The qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level are likley to provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They may also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team. They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Who Should Attend?

Individuals who are aspiring to be managers, supervisors or team leaders in small to large organisations and the public sector.

Smart and Skilled Training

Although Strategic Corporate Training is an approved Smart and Skilled provider, subsidised training is currently not available for this qualification due to the exhaustion of our funding allocation.

 

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management qualification requires the completion of 12 units of competency, being five core and seven elective units.

Recognition

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer for units within this qualification are available to all students. Please contact our Training Admin Team for more information on the RPL pathway and Credit Transfer processes.

Assessment

Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate specific skills.

A range of assessment methods will be utilised to assess competence in each unit within the course including group activities, projects, written questions, presentation, observation etc.

Strategic Corporate Training's Certificate IV in Leadership and Management course is delivered as a blended delivery program which includes classroom training followed by self directed learning by the student. The course delivery utilises Strategic Corporate Training's web-based Learning Portal and so it is essential that students have the ability to use a computer, have fundamental skills using Word and Excel and the ability to touch type using a keyboard.

Training is delivered by our industry expert trainers over 12 days which provides high impact learning pathway for students. Students can rest assured that our trainers are highly skilled and provide hands-on WHS knowledge relevant to the workplace throughout the course.

Courses are regularly conducted by Strategic Corporate Training via face to face classroom and virtual classroom (Skype). Face to face classroom is delivered at our facility in Thornton NSW, which is easily accessible for individuals from the Hunter Valley, Maitland, Newcastle Region, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Mid-North Coast areas. Virtual classroom delivery enables students to undertake distance learning in a classroom setting whilst engaging with and being supported by an experienced trainer.

The delivery phase of the course involves interactive classroom training encompassing all elements of the units within the qualification based on the simulation of a workplace-based environment. An interactive classroom provides students with the opportunity to participate in group activities and discussions to best develop their knowledge and skills in leadership and management. Presentation activities required within the course are conducted during the classroom training.

Students need to have access to a laptop/desktop computer during the training sessions (and for self directed learning) that has Microsoft Office 97 or later (including Word and Excel) and the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader. Reliable internet access is essential for virtual classroom courses.

On successful completion of the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management course, students will have gained skills and knowledge to:

  • Lead and manage a team in a range of environments and changing priorities whilst demonstrating the standards and values of an organisation
  • Lead effective workplace relationships and guide individuals/teams to meet their goals
  • Assist organisations to promote innovative ideas for continuous improvement
  • Implement core work, health and safety requirements
  • Improve personal and time management skills and assist individuals/teams to prioritise duties
  • Identify and apply risk management processes
  • Supervise and lead a team in achieving project goals
  • Make presentations for a range of purposes
  • Undertake a minor project or a section of a larger project

Strategic Corporate Training is an approved provider under the Smart and Skilled program for subsidised training for Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. 

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Under the Smart and Skilled funding, we can offer NSW residents (including employer sponsored students working in NSW) access to subsidised training which significantly reduces the cost of achieving a qualification. In some cases, the student fee is fully subsidised by the NSW Government or an exemption applies for eligible students.

A student's eligibility is not affected if they have previously completed a vocational education and training qualification.
